An English proficiency test called PTE is used to evaluate the speaking, writing, reading, and listening abilities of applicants for study abroad programmes. Candidates have three hours to complete the exam's 130 questions and receive a score between 10 and 90T.
Types of PTE Exam
PTE, which stands for "Pearson Test of English," is divided into three primary tests:
PTE Academic (mostly taken by candidates):
The PTE Academic exam is offered all year long to those who want to study, apply to colleges or universities, or relocate abroad. There are four areas in the academic exam: writing, listening, reading, and speaking. The PTE Academic exam score is valid for the following two years and may be used by candidates. Different accents, including American and British as well as non-native speakers, will be used to evaluate the test.
PTE General
The PTE General exam is always offered three times a year in May, June, and December. A written paper plus a spoken examination make up the PTE General exam. The PTE General exam is meant to evaluate an applicant's practical communication abilities. The results are lifetime valid.
PTE Home
For applicants/students aged 6 to 13, the PTE Young Learners is an interactive English language assessment test.
PTE Exam Pattern
PTE General Exam Pattern
PTE General Exams are divided into two sections: Speaking and Writing.
The reading comprehension, writing, and listening portions of the written test are further broken down.
For the PTE General Exam, which is based on the CEFR grading system, scores are calculated based on six assessment levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 (The Common European Framework of Reference).
People must develop C1 or C2 level fluency to apply for admission to foreign ministries or universities. However, due to the PTE General's narrow focus on real-world communication, not all colleges or ministries recognise it as a criterion for admission. However, the PTE General is not recognised for VISA purposes.
Few ministries and universities in the following nations, including Argentina, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Colombia, Ukraine, Greece, Vietnam, Lithuania, Poland, Italy, and Latvia, accept the PTE General Score as part of their entrance exam requirements.
PTE Academic Exam Pattern
Three sections make up the PTE Academic test:
Speaking and writing in Part 1 (Time Allotted: 77-93 minutes)
Second: Reading (Time Allotted: 32-40 minutes)
Finale: Listening (Time Allotted: 45-57 minutes)
Candidates do not need to be experts in English-related subjects to take the PTE exam. This examination is necessary to gain access to or to confirm the candidate's proficiency in the international official language in writing, reading, speaking, and listening. With a passing score on the Pearson Test of English, aspiring candidates can be confident that they will be able to enrol in foreign colleges and universities.
